I had this procedure 20 years ago and it was and still is the best choice of surgery for me. (I am still holding off a 200lb. weight loss). What I remember being as weird experiences was immediately after surgery my taste buds changed. I had loved hot sauces and no longer liked them. (This lasted about a year). Also my stomach "talked". A lot! Another thing was that whenever I was full, my nose would run 😂
Still does! As for protein "shakes" if you can't tolerate the milky ones, there are products out there that are high protein items such as soups, fruit drinks, hot cocoa, puddings, etc. At the beginning you'll need to keep well hydrated which is hard, so I'd try the different drinks you can buy. My surgeon kept saying sip, sip, sip! I'm happy to help with any purge questions you might have.

I am 27 years out from this miracle surgery. I have had no problems at all. Went in at 267 lbs. I maintain 125 to 130lbs now with no effort at all.
