Post COVID: Anyone experiencing internal vibrations?

Posted by sharho @sharho, Jul 7, 2022

I have had long covid for over two years and a symptom began sporadically during the initial seven weeks that has worsened since a second covid experience. It began as a “flutter” in my chest upon waking, lasting 5 seconds or so. It is not painful just a new sensation I have never experienced. After getting covid again in February 2022, the internal vibrations have become full body and go on for forty seconds. It is always upon waking or falling asleep temporarily during meditation and waking again. Long Covid retired me from my profession and I am not under any stress. I had a recent cardiac incident (also due to long Covid) and wore a Holter monitor. I triggered it whilst having an IV incident: definitely not cardiac induced. Has anyone else experienced IV like this?

Has anyone had any shaking or tremors or seizures like parkinson's or anything else that mimic it or mimic Lyme disease..

Oh this goes back way before Covid and nobody has ever listened to us. I had Epstein Barr 20 years ago and have had this way before Covid. Doctors are starting to realize that post viral infections really can wreak havoc. Sending you hugs and prayers

Yes. Posted about this a few days ago. Often, internal vibrations, or “buzzing” sensation. Twice, second episode following vestibular testing last week, full body shaking with very bad tremors. Feel better.

Hi everyone.

I have been dealing with tremors and a host of other confusing symptoms for more than a year. My doctor and neurologist have never been able to pinpoint a clear cause, even though I suspected Long Covid.

I now think I have Lupus instead.

Lupus and Long Covid share many common symptoms. Also important, men with Lupus tend to have a different set of symptoms than women with the disease.

Most relevant symptoms for me (male):
Tremors/seizures/dizziness
Gastric issues
Peripheral neuropathy
Minor chest pain.
Minor cognitive issues.
Pattern of flares/remission.
Sunburn--induced skin rash.

I hope that other posters find this helpful and consider reviewing common Lupus symptoms to see if they are applicable.

Sorry to hear about your issues, hopefully you find cause soon but did your physicians think you might have Lupus or is that something you think is possible. I have had post Covid vibrations but only while sleeping or semi sleep. I have noticed dizzy spell but only once so may have been something unrelated. Best of luck!!

Welcome @sharho. Because your symptoms appear to be related to long COVID, I moved your post to the Post-COVID Recovery support group here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/post-covid-recovery-covid-19/

Fellow members like @vash @vonpinnon @robinholly @aae @pattykakes have all mentioned dealing with internal vibrations in this related discussion:

- Anyone Found Help/Explanation for Long Covid Neurological Symptoms https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/long-covid-neurological-symptoms/

They may have some experiences and tips to share with you.
@sharho, I find it curious that you get these vibrations when you are in presumably relaxed states, like falling asleep, upon waking or while meditating. I'd like to think this is part of the healing process (not a medical opinion). Do you have other neurological symptoms?

It happens to me most in relaxed states but now it’s happening even when walking driving talking… “there is a demon in me” lol but honestly I am experiencing 9 months into long Covid.

Had it since March 2021 with about 20 other post-covid symptoms at the time.
Only feeling it when I'm lying down and not all the time.
This might be a feeling of blood flow due to vasoconstriction or other vascular damage.

Post-covid is usually due to inactive viral persistence causing endless symptoms including vascular inflammation.

I was treated with HIV medication recently for 1 month by top Covid researchers and the internal vibrations reduced in severity along with some other symptoms.
I am now waiting on more test results to see how to proceed.

Hi @vash - because your question relates to long COVID, I've moved it to this ongoing discussion started by @sharho:

You may find some additional support from members like @vonpinnon, @rwinney, and @robinholly in this discussion about COVID neurological symptoms:

Have you been able to speak with a care provider about your symptoms, or to get a referral for a neurological consult?

Why is this internal buzzing from either COVID or shot given for it being monitored in those that have it at the Mayo Clinic? There must be thousands that are affected, if you are seeing this many responses on this little known site ! There should be a commercial on TV asking for every input you can get. If car warranty companies can do it, I'm sure the Mayo Clinic can, and should also!

Yes, I also have internal vibrations mostly coming on at night and not all the time. I have autonomic neuropathy (peripheral neuropathy all over my body including my head) and POTS due to long Covid. I also have strong pulsing sensation in my head at all times. As well as heart palpitations, my heart pounds heavily even is I have a pulse of 55 lying in bed. My head gets overstimulated as the day goes on and then I don't tolerate lights and sounds. All my tests and MRIs came back normal, except for my ANA title (1:360).
The neurologist is calling in an immune inflammatory response post Covid.

Things that are helping me:
- Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (it is anti-inflammatory and anti-viral and helps with nerve regeneration). It helped reduce my headache and I have more energy) I will do 20 sessions in total, only done 4 so far.
- I drink excessively and eat 2 tsp of salt every day (mainly for POTS)
- Vitamins: NAC, CoQ10, probiotics, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12
- Since my immune system is constantly overreacting and causing inflammation, I take Claritin every day, which is helpful. Or you can take Benadryl at night, which helps you sleep. There are also some D-hist supplements I use.
- When vibrations come on, I use tapping, which helps and can make them stop and I massage my neck.
- I also purchased a Vagus nerve stimulator recently (can't tell results yet)
- I eat a low histamine and anti-inflammatory diet (definitely no gluten, no sugar, no coffee, no alcohol - although I sometimes make an exception)

Good luck to everyone who is dealing with long Covid! It's been a struggle but I am trying to stay positive.
