Can neuropathy in my feet cause balance problems?

I have had a sudden onset of severe peripheral neuropathy, with balance problems in the mix, and while I don’t want to give anyone “flack” for their experiences with physical therapy, I simply offer my take—I want to keep and add to the strength that I have in my upper body and core, and add to weight bearing in my legs. I also want to keep the messages flowing from my brain to my muscles. Physical therapy both in the house and in the local university pool has helped continuously with that. I don’t expect a cure for my neuropathy, but I will be keeping myself as fit as possible, thanks to my dedicated physical therapists. I need to be as dedicated as they are.

I’m with you. Somehow PT helped me stand again, which is nice in the shower, with a safety bar of course. Walking again wouldn’t have happened without leg strengthening. PT has helped me to smartly keep as fit as possible for the most basic of life functions…squatting to sit/stand, reaching for things, putting on shoes & socks, and picking things up off the floor. That includes picking myself up off the floor! We occasionally put myself on the floor and figure best methods of me getting up by myself - and you do need upper body strength for that. I could go on and on, but I will add PT has been my best friend dealing with PN.
