My husband had cancer in his cheek and 2 lymph nodes were cancerous and an additional one had cancer that was not contained. He had 6 chemotherapy treatment to help make the radiation stronger and 33 radiation treatments. He had a g tube for 7 months. He has recovered and has a machine for treatment to reduce lymphodema. He is eating normal, although he can not open his mouth as wide as he used to.

He was treated at Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City.

Please let me know if you need any more information.

Thank you! It does help to hear from other people who have gone through similar situations. There is so much we were not told. By the time I was able to research alternatives and honest information about this it was too late. The radiation oncologist finally admitted a week before treatment was over he had not seen Burns this bad before. That in of it’s self is frightening.
I am concerned about long term side effects from radiation burns this severe, DNA damage and everything that goes with it. Most information I find online is general information and not particularly helpful. I keep
hoping to find anything that can be done to stop/keep all the side effects from occurring (trismis, lymphedema, etc.) other than wait around to see how severe these things get and learn to manage, live with it then.
