I use a light box. This helps Seasonal Affective Disorder a lot during seasons when there is not much light. I got my light box at my psychiatrist's advice. The address is The SunBox Company, 19217 Orbit Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20879. The phone number is 1-800-548-3968. The e-mail address is sunbox@aol.com. I started using it for 30 minutes everyday and worked it up to 45 minutes per day during the dark months. You may need to experiment with the time that works for you. My Sun Box has a life time guarantee. In 2010 I bought it for $200.00..

Ann did you get the SunSaton?

Hello BHS, I do not get the SunSalon to the best of my knowledge. What I know for sure is that if you get what my psychiatrist suggested, you will have an adequate light box...A rule of thumb is that you use the lightbox around September or October and not use it when April arrives. The light box is only supposed to be used during the darker months of the year. Good luck. You will feel better. I do.

HI. I also have a light box for seasonal depression.I found out if you take the sun in when it's sunny out, sit in it but it's best to go out side and walk also If you have a lamp that could hold a 150 watts that will help too( no lamp shade on it) and sit next to it. Good luck to you.

Hi teresaann66, Different things work for different people. I need more than what you said with the sun exposure and a 150 Watt light bulb.

BHS, You may want to consult your doctor as to whether you should buy a light box or get as much sun as possible outside and from a 150 Watt bulb.

Hi Ann & Teresaann66 , Am going to post a new topic I hope you will weigh in on. I appreciate your input. Am determined to do everything I can to stop this depression that seems to get worse as the years roll on.

Hello BHS, You have determination to get out of your depression. You are also doing things that will make it possible. You will be surprised at how well you will feel after a few days with a light box. I have a higher energy level. I also take an anti-depressant that is meant to help SAD. At this time of year I take two anti-depressant Effexor and Bupropian. You may want to mention this to your doctor. Consider.

Hi

A light box bulb apparently should have 10000 lux of full spectrum light. An ordinary bulb is not sufficient. Any SAD light product should come with the appropriate bulb! Also. I was advised to take Vitamin D supplement in the low sun months. I take 4000I.U from late September to January.

Hers a review of SAD bulbs and what is needed:

I am not associated with Amazon but here are a range of products to give you an idea: (if this is considered bad form, I apologize -there are many other sellers)
