I was hospitalized last month for severe - level 9 chest pain. It felt like GERD tthat I have had most of my life but did not respond to Pepcid, Gaviscon, or Prilosec- but did respond to viscous lidocaine, Endoscopy was negative. It did respond to 500mg of quercetin twice a day and to oral cromolyn- a prescription med distributed as ampules I took 6-10 ampules and got total relieve. Now 6 weeks after my first chest pain, teh pain is less and I am on 2 ampules of cromolyn and one 500 mg quercetin.

Did you experience any issues with swallowing? I’m on cromolyn currently 4 ampules for oral reactivity

The fact that quercetin seems to help might be indicative of histamine intolerance. GERD can be a symptom of histamine intolerance. I’ve had problems I believe to be histamine intolerance but my allergist just shook his head. I believe covid can cause increased histamine.
