Thank you also much for sharing your experiences, @coquifoife.

Welcome to Connect, @swfloridagal,

I'd like to introduce you to a few members who've shared their or their loved ones' experience with bladder cancer. Please meet @barneythe2nd @billskid @frankweathers @ktaubman @karper and @predictable. I'm certain they will have some valuable insights to share with you.

Here's some information from Mayo Clinic about various tests for diagnosing bladder cancer: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/bladder-cancer/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20356109

@swfloridagal, may I ask if you would share more details about the autoimmune issues? We have such an incredibly informative Autoimmune Disease group, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/autoimmune-diseases/, and you may wish to go through some of the ongoing discussions and connect with fellow members.

There are several things which can cause this beyond bladder cancer. Kidney failure. Liver. Prostate cancer, urethra, penile cancer or sores. I have a form of amyloidosis (Gelsolin) which has toughened up the tissues of the valve, and occasional it is tough getting the catheter in. When this happens, I invariable end up with blood for a day or two. The only cure is to go gently with the catheter. I sometimes have to wear a pad in front.
