What OTC and Rx medicines have you already tried?
HI...I am taking dexilant now and it helps. Zofran doesn't work. Take pepcid but little help too. Thanks.
@mikejjb123
Are you taking regular Pepcid or Pepcid Complete? I do take Pepcid Complete at night .. 2 of them. The NP at Mayo had me add it a couple of years ago.
My esophagus had a small stricture starting in August I could not keep my PPI capsules (omeprazole) down. Vomiting is no fun! So went off of the PPI unintentionally. The Pepcid Complete chewable (store brand version) and adding liquid Mylanta ( store brand version) calmed the irritation the vomiting caused. I honestly feel better without the PPI. I tried going back on it but felt awful … hard to explain the feeling. I had more problems finding my words .. I thought it was me aging and not sleeping but a few hours a night causing that. I am 71 . To me it seems the PPI had something to do with it .. I feel like I am thinking better. My husband agrees. I had been on one PPI or another .. mostly Prilosec/omeprazole for 30+ years.
I could not get an appointment at Mayo Jax this year for my endoscopy . .. no appointments available. I persuaded my local GI doctor to do the endoscopy and Oct was soon as he could do it. I knew if he got in a spot he would stop and have me air lifted to Mayo. All went well. I see my doctor's NP Monday for follow up and I am sure she will disagree with me and want me to go back on the PPI. I think I want to wait until after whenever my next endoscopy is to decide for sure or if my symptoms worsen to go back on it. After adding the Pepcid Complete Barrett's esophagus has not shown in endoscopies.
Did I read somewhere you have gastroparesis? If so I have been there. Is there a cure .. not that I know of, but I had to have a gastric bypass to fix a giant hiatal hernia .. I had complications (my esophagus shortened and pulled 3 loops of intestines into my chest cavity pushing my left lung against my left rib) and I had to have another surgery .. open … to repair the damage of the complication. With the repair most of the symptoms of gastroparesis is gone .. still have what I call dump days…. most of the day on the bathroom throne. 😞
Before these surgeries at Mayo my best help was a probiotic and watching what I ate. Keep a journal to figure out all those triggers .. one time something does not bother you and the next they do. I tried several different probiotics and Align is the one that worked for me. Everyone is different in what works for them.

Wow. Thanks ZeeGee. I don't have as many words as you, but i feel for you. You said it best. Hit or miss and figure it out. I am more aware now and have improved, but not 100%. Take a pill of Pepcid Complete not a chewable each night. Be well. Mike

I did not mean to be so wordy. I am actually a quiet person .. just tend to over write 😁.
When I first was diagnosed with gastroparesis I took a drug called Propulsid … may have misspelled. They took it off the market. It helped a lot. Maybe they will come up with better, and safer drugs or some sort of procedure to at least help people live a better life with the disorder.
I wish you well in your journey.

Thanks again. Best to you. Mike
If anyone wants to try a relief band, all models are half price on Tam Fam .just google that.
It’s one of today’s deals on the Tameron Hall show. Offer may possibly go past today not sure. If after today try putting “Relief Band”
In the search to check. Prices are unbelievably good - starting from $49 up to $134 for the most expensive model. Good time to check it out.
PS. I have nothing to do with the product or Tam Fam. 😊 I’m just ordering a couple today.
