Husband diagnosed: high grade carcinoma with neuroendocrine features

Posted by gigi65 @gigi65, Nov 23, 2022

My husband required surgery for a rectal fissure that was 3/4 inch long. The surgeon saw what he was sure was cancer, did a biop. Came back yesterday as: high grade carcinoma with neuroendocrine features P 16 positive.

Although we are both Mayo patients can anyone tell me who to contact to be seen ASAP? Realize that he had the fissure surgery only last Thursday but he is still in such pain.

Hi @gigi65,
The most efficient way to request an appointment with Mayo Clinic NETs specialists is to fill out the appointment request form found on this webpage: http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

Select the Returning Patient option. You can fill it out on his behalf or with him. After filling out the form, a coordinator will call you within 3 business days to discussion options.

I am a 19+ year Stage IV Lung Cancer survivor because I was able to go to Mayo. And a 10+ year survivor of Stage II Lung Cancer. (different lungs)

I am reaching out to my contacts in the cancer community. Just now got off the phone with ColoRectal at Mayo. Sent the biop report. Waiting for call back.

Hi @gigi65, I have not been a patient of Dr. Yoon's. But I can say that his contribution to research about gastrointestinal cancers is very impressive. Here is a recent article featuring one of his studies.
- Immunotherapy may play role in treating nonmetastatic gastroesophageal cancer https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/immunotherapy-may-play-role-in-treating-nonmetastatic-gastroesophageal-cancer/

And as Mayo patients, you and your husband know that Dr. Yoon will be working collaboratively with a whole team of Mayo experts focused on your husband care, hope and healing. I'll be thinking of you as you prepare for your visit later this month. Got questions?
