@sjw6358, I'm sorry to hear that the side effects after 6 rounds of chemo and 27 radiation treatments are kicking in. Only one more radiation treatment! Then things will start to get better. I bet you're looking forward to that.
yes we are...i can say it has not been easy but there is some light at the end of the tunnel...this website is great because it helped me ask the right questions to assemble a team to get me to this point...i have been able to maintain my weight without a feeding tube... AND THANK EVERYONE ON THIS SITE WHO HAVE RESPONDED ...HAPPY NEW YEAR!
After all your treatments are completed you will be on a 6 week "rest" to allow your esophageal soft tissue to heal. If if hurts to swallow because of the radiation ask for something called: "Magic Mouthwash". It's for mouth sores. I didn't need my mouth to be numb, but it most certainly helped for the burns in my throat etc. I put in a spray bottle and by passed the mouth and right down the throat. Good luck to you on your next phase of your journey!!!!
My pharmacist suggested to me nausea pills that dissolve in the mouth on days I can't swallow. So the suggestion might help you.
