My dad is in pain

Hello there.

I’m writing to to let you know that my dad has been diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer a year ago (probably too late) and immediately started with hormone therapy as according to the doctor, surgery and chemotherapy wouldn’t help.

Everything was going alright with quarterly shots in the belly and two tablets per day. About 12 months down the line the shots have been given to the belly, but his Gleason score went up to 11+/11, PSA 25-50? and he started to experience severe pain in the lower abdomen and around the waist which is a daily thing now and he can’t pass stool very often either assuming the cancer cells have spread as his recent scan showed spread of cancer cells to the lower belly, pelvic bone and chest.

At the moment his doctor is awaiting for authorisation to prescribe a new drug that is proofed to help cancer patients

He is in lot of pain now and I’m very scared that he won’t survive very long, but I have belief in that new drug that hopefully will help. He will need to call the doctor next week to find out, but when he goes to see the doctor every three months he is always very quick and busy to tell anything, although he is a great doctor and have helped on many patients in Slovakia
