Does anyone find that a type of shoe helps your foot neuropathy?

Posted by lorirenee1 @lorirenee1, Mar 25, 2019

I am on a constant quest for shoes that don't kill my feet due to the neuropathy. I find that Spencos and Wolky shoes seem the best. Are there any other suggestions? Shoes can be just crippling for me. Horrid.

@lorirenee1 I would love to have the answer for that too. Wonderful question. I have tried soft soles and hard soles and orthopedic inserts and gel inserts. I have found nothing that keeps my feet from feeling as if I'm walking on broken glass. If you find something, will you let me know? I am almost to the point of not being able to walk. I'm sure there are others who would like suggestions too.
Thanks,

I have found sketchers with the soles like in the picture
And helped immensely with walking with neuropathy pain. I wear them every day as house shoes. I do not know if they have soles like this in any of the other Sketcher shoes. I also have arthritis in my feet.

I have numb feeling in my feet no pain. Also I have bad hammertoes, every shoe I get hurt my feet, also ones I got from Medicare paying for them. I'm at a loss what to do! I bought a pair of slippers from Amazon called Bobs and they are about 50% ok. I had another pair of these that I wore for 2 years and threw away and bought another pair. It is awful that no shoes feel good to me. Hope all of you have neuropathy find comfortable shoe's!!! Good Luck!!

Also Doc Martin makes a decent shoe if you can find some good ones. Not cheap but they last.

I have been struggling with Small Fiber Neuropathy foot pain for over 20 years and during that time I have found that Keen Shoes, in a variety of models, have been the least pain inducing. It's pretty clear that is because of the wide toe boxes in their shoes. I would sure suggest giving them a trial fitting in your local shoe store.

Hi Angie @ancopau1998 - I also have the numbness in my feet along with pretty bad hammertoes. I find that Sketchers wide width are fairly comfortable but not the ones called Go Walk. They are too spongey on the bottom and they give me the feeling that I'm going to tip over if I'm not careful walking.

Hi Johnbishop. the slippers I just bought are sketchers called Bobs. They feel ok as i said I had a pair for years and finally got a new pair. Th
hey are also ones you can wear outside. It's just awful the numbness, someone once said to me well thats good at least they don't hurt! They should walk on our feet! Thanks for the answer about the sketchers.

For me, I find Skechers the only shoe that has worked for me in the past 4 years. They change the names every so often, but it’s now called Skechers Ghenter Srelt Work Shoe. It has a relaxed fit, is slip-on and slip resistant for safety. A pair only lasts me comfortably about 3-4 months, but I wear them every day, often inside the house since walking flat foot isn’t comfortable for me. I can’t easily change shoes, even for the swimming pool or formal events, because it’s hard for my brain and gait to re-adjust & I’m terribly sore if I do, but I’ve outgrown the looks I get from others when it comes to safety and comfort.

Does Medicare cover any portion of the cost of footwear for neuropathy? Johnmacc

I'm with you on the slippers. I have four pair of LL Bean flannel-lined slippers. Non-skid soles for fall hazards and provide improved balance and stability.

I totally agree with the difficulty finding comfortable shoes. I have paid a high price for "custom insoles", with poor results. I don't even want to admit to the number of Podiatrists I have seen!
Finally, after five years of hunting, having dozens of pairs of shoes, my solution is to wear "AmRelieve "Soothesocks" under my everyday socks, EVERY day! Amazing relief that I never had before! I also have to change my shoes, can't wear the same pair two days in a row1 Are we having fun yet?

I love Keen sandals. I love the ones with bumper toes and nylon type straps. Very comfortable with or without socks. I wear them full time when camping, great for walking, boating and just hanging out!
