Feedback on Linzess for Irritable Bowel-C or Chronic Constipation
I have both of the above-conditions. Took Linzess, (called Constella in Canada) and got terrible stomach pain. Feeling desperate and thinking about trying it one more time. Interested in hearing what kind of experiences other people have had with linaclotide/linzess.

Does anyone here have any feedback on how well Motegrity works for CIC? I've tried the osmotic alternatives - Linzess, Miralax, Magnesium Citrate - Linzess and Miralax just don't work, and Magnesium Citrate makes me nauseous.
Thanks in advance for any info on Motegrity.
Joe
let me know how it goes
None of these worked well for me.
The recipe I was given by Dunn Physical Therapy worked best.
1 cup applesauce
1 cup oat bran (NOT OAT MEAL)
3/4 cup prune juice
I mix and keep in covered bowel in fridge and 2 tbsp before bed.
Awesome! Thanks Brenda.
Did Motegrity do anything when you used it? Thanks! Joe
Icky?
I feel so confused, not sure I should continue the Linzess. It's been only 6 days now. I'm 68 with a lifetime of chronic constipation. I also currently have an anal fissure which is being treated with Rectiv, an ointment that has some side effects too including headache and lightheadedness. I tend to get unusual side effects, like I took Miralax exactly once - an hour later I sort of collapsed, crying on the floor - weird I know! Like many of you I'm getting diarrhea approx every other day - when I do I take Imodium until it stops. Yesterday I had one nice normal bowel movement and felt well all day. I even exercised - just walking and yoga - for the first time in months. I woke up during the night feeling generally icky, kind of nauseous and my abdomen ached, nothing urgent or too severe, just icky and it's still going on. Here it is 7am and I just took another Linzess. I'd really like to have a happy and normal Thanksgiving but am feeling discouraged. Hard to tell what's affecting me the most, the exercising? the Linzess? the Rectiv? I also use a lot of lidocaine jelly prescribed by my dr for the fissure pain. I'm a wreck! My dr also suggested magnesium and am wondering if I should have opted for that instead? Well to anyone who reads this - thanks!
Hi. 2 tblsp? I'm glad you found something that works for you but - that doesn't seem like it would be enough?
Hi, it's me again. I went ahead and took this morning's Linzess. Ugh. So much diarrhea. Imodium is my only hope!
A lifetime of constipation ... I'm 68 .... also have an anal fissure .... using Rectiv for that .... I'm a wreck! I just wanna enjoy this day!
GI offered magnesium, and I kinda wishing I'd opted for that.
Be careful with magnesium citrate. It is a powerful laxative usually used for colonoscopy prep. you'll get one decent BM, and then hours of watery diarrhea. Sorry for the details but be warned about using citrate of magnesium on a regular basis.
Thanks. My GI recommends it, I wouldn't just take it on my own. I would follow his instructions.
I have to reduce to 1 tbsp from time to time.
