Yes it is new. My orthopedic did X-rays and said everything was where it should be. I work for a PT who has had me doing quad strengthening. I keep wondering if there is more going on.

Strengthening the quad is great. Avoid exercises that put strain on the kneecap, specifically seated quad curls. Or see how they feel. And don't forget to balance quad exercises with exercises for the hamstring. Sounds like you're doing great!
