Hello all,

I'm new here and looking for some guidance. My child was on this medication for 2 months and during that time he suffered horrible hand tremors. He has been off of it going on 3 months now and is having hand issues. NO more tremors but he keeps pressing his hands and rubbing them constantly. Drs are puzzled as to why he has this and wanted to see if anyone else had this issue. If so, did it ever go away? What helped? Any help would be appreciateated

Hello @dm06, Welcome to Connect. It's good to hear your child is no longer having the hand tremors after stopping the prednisone. I know that it must be hard for your child not knowing what is going on. I have not heard of hand tremors as a side effect of prednisone but hopefully other members will be able to share their experience. Hand rubbing can also be a sign of stress.

"When you are stressed, there will be more rubbing of the hands together (self-massaging or “pacifying”) which will increase in frequency and force commensurate with the stress. When things are really stressful, you will rub your hands together with fingers stretched out and interlaced (Teepee Hands)."

May I ask how is your child feels about what is happening? Are you able to share what condition the doctors were treating when they prescribed prednisone?
