Feedback on Linzess for Irritable Bowel-C or Chronic Constipation
I have both of the above-conditions. Took Linzess, (called Constella in Canada) and got terrible stomach pain. Feeling desperate and thinking about trying it one more time. Interested in hearing what kind of experiences other people have had with linaclotide/linzess.

Same here. I'm about to try Motegrity.
HIGH dose Linzess did zero for me - took for 4 days - did not go one time. How much Miralax do you take per day. My guess is if you take enough and drink enough fluids it WILL WORK! The medication they give you when you have a colonoscopy works on the same principle - absorbs water into the gut - so you go. you cannot take too much - its an inert substance. you either did not take enough or did not drink enough fluids. you don't have to drink a ton - just have about 10 ounces when you take it - I put it in my morning tea - big coffee cup - and then drink 'normal amounts' of fluid throughout the day.
One sort of positive effect of using daily liquid antacid( to deal with upper g.i. gastritis) which contains 200mg of magnesium carbonate (in addition to 200 mg of calcium carbonate )per tsp×3 times a day is that I sometimes can lower the amount of senokot from 3 pills to 2 . It's the magnesium working.
Thanks sue,
Magnesium carbonate products, like CALM, also contain citric acid. When the powder is mixed with water, magnesium citrate is formed. I've used CALM, and it seems to work, sometimes too well, for constipation. I just haven't found the right dose for myself yet.

Calm gave me terrible sour stomach so I use it as a foot soak now. That is, until I use it up.

I am currently on Ibsrela and have been on it for 2 to 3 months and I take it twice daily and it seems to work well for me. It is taken with meals but it still does the job.
Could you share with me the amount you use in your coffee or tea? I'm willing to try again. The problem I have is a rectocele with pelvic floor dysfunction.
Thank you for the suggestion!
Thank you. Good to know it could have that effect!
i put a full capful (sometimes heaped) depending on my last BM.. i also have another capful at night in my tea. If you get "the runs" just skip a dose or cut back until you find the perfect amount for you. the "recommended dose" is one capful and you should go the next morning. If you don't go then add perhaps a half capful at night and then just "play" with teh dosage until it is perfect for you. This stuff is a "lifesaver" for me - and its not "addictive" since it is just cellulose. The only side effect is lower abdominal bloating - but it is fine with me - i'd rather have that than have to deal with constipation, cramps and everything else that comes along with it. once you go the bloating disappears....
