I'm sorry that you were unable to get home care to help with the drains. Thank goodness your husband is will to help. He may appreciate some of the tips others shared in this related discussion:

It is dependent on the total measured flow in a day. It may vary per person. Your doc should guide you. For me, one drain was removed in less than a couple of weeks. The 2nd drain, I believe I left in approximately a week longer. I did a few more days than needed on the 2nd drain to be sure.
