Apparently Choline is an essential nutrient that impacts liver function, healthy brain development, muscle movement, your nervous system and metabolism. From what I read online, choline deficiency is rare and more likely to affect post-menopausal women, which is exactly when I got so much sicker 13 years ago! "Choline deficiency is associated with liver and/or muscle damage," and I've had a lot of spasticity and weakness in my muscles and tendons that no one can figure out.

Anyone out there know if taking choline supplement is good idea, and what brand and dose?
Thanks.

Hi, Ruthie!

I was proven to be choline deficient through a hair sample test. Not surprising for two reasons.

1. Due to my allergic reaction to the Pfizer double jab, I suffered "food hypersensitivity" for 18 months with chronic diarrhea. Loss of nutrients was unimaginable!

2. Decades of a daily H2 Blocker/Antacid (Tagamet) which causes choline deficiency.

Choline deficiency is an indicator/precursor of neurological disorders like dementia, Alzheimer's, etc!

So, yes, I am now supplementing choline. Don't know the brand name. Hold on. Let me see if I can find the bottle in my HUGE plastic tub of supplements.

Okay! I am finishing up a bottle from Vitacost.com. It's their other in-house brand called Synergy. The label says Phosphatidyl Choline. More important is the potency per dose. Two soft gels contain 840 mg of Phosphatidyl Choline along with 2,000 mg of Soy Lecithin which helps with absorption. Some people are concerned about any soy products. I believe I ordered another brand on Amazon which is just choline. Period. May or may not have any type of lecithin.

I do take my daytime supplements after ingesting 4 Tablespoons of organic extra virgin olive oil. So, I make certain to have some healthy fat in my system before taking my supplements. I know Turmeric/Curcumin is best absorbed with some fat/oil, too.

As you've discerned, I'm most concerned about avoiding/delaying cognitive decline. I am childless and will have nobody on which I can depend. So, I also take Prevagen (regular dose) every day. Oh, and Gingko Biloba and probably some other naturals for mental acuity.

Formerly articulate, I now grope for words and have to double think the proper spelling of more arcane terms. Ergo, I am very much aware of my drop in sharpness.
