Prolia
Does Prolia cause rash and UTI's? The endocrinologist recommends forte and prolix. I will not do forte as I don't want to inject everyday. Also will my calcium levels increase with prolia? What's better Prolia or Reclast?

I have had 2 injections of Prolia, one per year. i did not have a rash or UTI. Everyone is different, but I did not have side effects. My physician is an expert in Osteoporosis and recommended Prolia, because I had already been on Fosamax for years, and have osteoporosis in my spine. I did not want to have the drug, but my doctor has more knowledge than I do and I followed her advice. I have not had any bad effects.
I have been on Prolia several years. I haven't had any issue and my bone density has increased. And no fractures!
That is very encouraging! Thank you!
Thank you! So happy it is working so we’ll😊
Thank you for your comments
i will be taking my first Prolia injection on Dec. 15th. Very nervous. My endocrinologist insists that some of the side effects I'm concerned about he has NEVER seen. Has anyone had the following after Prolia injections: High blood pressure, high cholesterol, uti's, thyroid problems, severe skin problems, weight gain, or any other major problems. I have taken Fosomax on and off since 2010 and my bone density is at -4.4. I did fall in August on concrete during a walk and did not break or fracture anything. My hands and chin took the fall. was that luck or is the osteoporosis not so bad? I fell flat on my stomach. The Dr. feels I'm high risk for fractures. He wanted me on Forteo (self injections) daily and after that start Prolia. I can't handle that, so I accepted the Prolia. Please share your experiences. Thanks.
I have no experience with it but I wanted to say that I was told the same thing. Basically saying that any little movement or fall would be very bad. Wanted me to do injection daily for a year and then take the meds you were told too. However I can not handle that either. They told me the daily injections would be life altering with side effects and to spend the first two weeks in bed because I will feel like I have the flu. I am unsure if I even want the second med. So I understand where you are coming from. I am seeking another opinion from a different doctor before I do anything. I hope you get the help you need and find your answers.
The daily injections are not life-altering and you should be able to go about your life normally. Who told you otherwise?
I have written quite a lot on hear about Tymlos, which works in a way that is similar to Forteo. If you are scared of side effects, you can start with a low dose and ramp up. The Tymlos pen has 8 clicks. I started with two and moved up every week or two. I have been on 7 clicks for more than a year and feel stronger.
You are getting information that is unnecessarily scary in my opinion. The daily injections are no big deal, easier than brushing my teeth.
I should add that what IS life altering is fractures. I speak from experience! Tymlos and Forteo may help to prevent those.
The actual specialist at Mayo said it to me. Told me flu symptoms and chills and bone aches and to spend first few weeks in bed and not to go anywhere. I looked up reviews of the drugs and found almost everyone said the same thing. It is great to hear the other side so TY!
