I couldn't tolerate alpha lipoic acid, only R- alpha lipoic acid, and only half of the mg. of alpha lipoic acid. I've read article somewhere that 600mg.of R- alpha lipoic acid equal to 1200mg of alpha lipoic acid. Using seeking health one.
I use 2 to 4 capsules a day, depends on pain in that day. If I get reflux, which sometimes happens, I have some food, or just chewing gum or soda bicarbonate. Definitely helps with pain.
I think, it makes my hot flashes worse, and more grumpy 😠 😡, but it helps with pain! To make myself more enjoyable to be around, I take magnesium, which is brilliant for neuropathy too, anyway 😄!
I think my pain is triggered by sweet food, which I sooo love unfortunately 😔 😕! And wine too! My two bad indulgences for neuropathy pain. Then I definitely need more R-ALA capsules 🙃🙂!
Worth trying! Good luck 👍 💓
Some members of the Protocol 525 Facebook group had to follow a ramp up schedule when starting to take the ALA specifically because it can cause digestive issues in some people. They work there way up to the 600mg twice daily dosage over a period of time using 100mg capsules. It also helps to take them with food. I posted about it in the 525 discussion here:
