Have you tried the new Protocol 525 product for neuropathy relief?
I have used the original version of the Protocol 525 product (https://theprotocolworks.com/) since 2016. I have idiopathic small fiber peripheral neuropathy with the only symptom being numbness in both legs. When I started taking the protocol, the numbness was just below my knees. After 2 months, the numbness seems to be just above the ankles which is subjective on my part with no additional testing. I do feel it is a win-win for me as my neuropathy has not progressed like I was told it would by the neurologist. I have continued taking the protocol in hopes that it may continue to roll back the numbness symptoms. I have noticed some new feeling in my feet in the last 2 months. Some feeling has returned to me feet and they seem to feel better lately although I still have the numbness – hard to describe the difference.
The Protocol 525 is not a cure for neuropathy. It treats the pain and discomfort symptoms of neuropathy without the drugs which have their own side effects. Have you tried the Protocol 525 or the original protocol? Did it help? If yes, how? If no, please share.
Note: I have no commercial investment in the protocol and I am sharing this information as someone who has found some degree of relief using this combination of supplements. I also discussed these supplements with my Mayo primary care team before I started taking them. The care team sent them to the pharmacist for review who did not have any major concerns for me taking them.

@ea1 - Thank you for sharing this information. I went for many years before seeking a diagnosis and my Mayo neurologist also did not use a skin punch biopsy as part of my testing for SFN. If you have the link to the article with the table/chart, I would appreciate being able to read it.
Updated response -- I found the article that shows the table - Thank you!

Great article, thanks.
@johnbishop
I see on the Protocol Facebook page that there is a new blend coming out called Protocol 626.
John do you know if there is a change in the ingredients of this new blend? Or is it just a change in how the capsules are loaded?
And also, I couldn't find anywhere if consuming Medical Marijuana gummies for pain and relaxation is ok while taking the Protocol? I see drinking alcohol is not recommended, but couldn't find anything on marijuana.
Thanks for your help!
Hi @bovic21 - Searching through the FB group using 626 and reading the different comments, this is my understanding.
I'm pretty sure the ingredients are the same. When the protocol first came out in 2014 it was a lot to swallow at 28 capsules tablets caplets and gel caps daily. In February of 2020 the Protocol 525 was introduced, the first blended version, 525 equaling 12. The 525 supply was depleted and they went back to more pills but same or better quality ingredients. They are now working on the new blended version (626) and targeting the same number of pills (12). The plan is to work toward getting a liquid blend for better bioavailability but the 626 version will need to be out at least 18 months before a liquid can come about due to the expense of the project and development.
I think there are members that are using or have used Medical Marijuana for ailments they have along with their neuropathy for pain relief. I did stop all alcohol myself due to not wanting to make my neuropathy worse.
@johnbishop
Thank you for the information.
Hi John
With numbness like yours I have just started on the 525 (more-or-less). One question: Why is NAC not part of the protocol? It seems to be recommended by others suffering from neuropathy.
Hello @mct, Welcome to Connect. I don't really have an answer for you other than one of the ingredients of the protocol is similar - acetyl-l-carnitine.
"Acetyl-L-carnitine (ALCAR) may help reduce the severity of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. High-quality evidence is needed to evaluate whether ALCAR may benefit the treatment of peripheral neuropathies associated with diabetes or caused by antiretroviral therapy."

Here's some more info that explains why it's part of the protocol.

Do you mind sharing a little more about your neuropathy diagnosis and how long you've had it?
Hi John,
Thanks for the quick response. I've been finding it hard to discover the rationale for the various 525 ingredients. Individually they have each (I think) been the subject of limited clinical trials and each shown some efficacy. But most trials have been regarding PAIN, and many were confined to diabetic neuropathy, not specifically treating the loss of sensation in idiopathic sensory neuropathy.
I'm about your age (72) and have had a fairly stable case of polycystic kidney disease for a few years. Otherwise I'm fairly healthy and and active.
The neuropathy started in early 2022 with numb toes and started an upward progression in June/July. It has now affected my hands and also my legs to above the knees. My calf muscles are now starting to feeling stiff if I walk for more than a mile. Not sure if I'll be able to get back to the tennis courts next summer.
Tests for diabetes proved negative but I haven't yet been tested for any other underlying disease.
I had previously thought the symptoms might be covid related but I see that recent medical reviews suggest that the link is questionable.
The 525 protocol (ALA and ALCAR in particular) seem my best bet for now to halt the progress of the neuropathy. I've been taking a dozen or so tabs/caps for about 2 weeks so far. I'll post again if I see any improvement n the next few weeks.
What is 625? Is it same for people with GERD and seizures?
