@rosemaryhow

Thankyou so much for your input. Since last year I have been dealing with pain on the L side of my face and neck due to TMD. I can manage the pain, but this mucous thing has just been so difficult to deal with. I am awaiting esophagram and gastric emptying study at Sparrow Hospital. Maybe gastroparesis is a doable reason. I don't know, but I just want someone to tell me I am not crazy, this is a known entity, and there is or is not something I can do to make it better. I even chose an older GI doc, thinking surely he has seen something like this before, and he says -No. What? really. So I guess all I can do is see if these tests show anything. Again, thankyou for your input.

@rosemaryhow, not crazy. It's real. Just because you haven't found anyone yet who knows it's real doesn't mean it isn't happening. Where I live the GI services leave a lot to be desired but my Primary is wonderful and immediately told me the extra thick mucus could be partly due to my COPD and CPAP use, partly due to allergies, and partly due to gastroparesis although he admitted he couldn't say for sure. My theory is that all the above may be contributing factors and the gastroparesis somehow influences salivation, etc. Sorry I can't tell you where I read about others having this problem (it was in one of these groups) but for what it's worth, we are not alone. Maybe one of the moderators can help find what others have said about it? Also sorry to say that in my own case I'm not sure anything can be done to mitigate it. IDK about you but frankly I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired! We gotta hang in there, though. Hope you can find out more and share what you learn.
