reflux of thick mucous

@rosemaryhow, I have gastroparesis, renal failure, CHF, COPD and diabetes, along with some other chronic conditions. Occasionally I would wake up with a lot of mucus in nose and throat which sometimes gagged me but didn't happen often until I started having worsening GI issues about a year ago and was diagnosed with gastroparesis. Nowadays I wake up with a lot of thick mucus in nose and throat almost every morning and sometimes it gags me to the point of dry heaves. Also can happen during the day. I sleep with a CPAP and have wondered if that's not related somehow.

Thankyou so much for your input. Since last year I have been dealing with pain on the L side of my face and neck due to TMD. I can manage the pain, but this mucous thing has just been so difficult to deal with. I am awaiting esophagram and gastric emptying study at Sparrow Hospital. Maybe gastroparesis is a doable reason. I don't know, but I just want someone to tell me I am not crazy, this is a known entity, and there is or is not something I can do to make it better. I even chose an older GI doc, thinking surely he has seen something like this before, and he says -No. What? really. So I guess all I can do is see if these tests show anything. Again, thankyou for your input.
