Not sure exactly but I began having symptoms (urgency) around 2006 (age 65) and started taking sal palmetto (over the counter). That helped for a number of years. I think I started with tamsulosin around 6 years ago (age 75) with one a day. A couple years back I had a kidney stone and a lithotripsy and started on 2 a day ( age 79) . (morning and night). I found that the ibuprofen (400mg) before bed prevents getting up multiple times as it is a anti inflammatory and I guess that provides more bladder space. I usually get a good 5 hours before getting up to pee and occasionally sleep through the entire night.
