Anyone do Tulsa Pro, newer laser ablation procedure?

I'm considering the TULSA procedure for prostate cancer (Gleason 7). Anyone who has experienced the procedure, docs who performed it, and others with recommendations or comments are welcomed to respond. Thank you.

I am also considering it and would love to know how it has gone for everyone

In November of 2020 I had a prostate HIFU performed by Dr Scionti in Sarasota, FL. Happy with the results so far. Dr Scionti does both HIFU and the newer TULSA-PRO but for me recommended the HIFU. Cost was not a consideration, but the HIFU did cost $15,000 less than TULSA-PRO. poodledoc

Thank you for the information on HIFU and TULSA-Pro. I had a PSA that bounced around from 4.5, 3.8, 4.3, 4.4 5.0, 5.4 over the past several years then rose to 6 this past summer. My DRE was normal. Free PSA levels have been 22 to 28 and prostate volume is 57.4. My doctor ordered an MRI and I have two Pi-RADS 4 lesions in the same lobe of the prostate peripheral zone. The lesions are 11mm and 10mm. So, about 1CM each.

I have a biopsy schedule in January. I am hopeful I don't have cancer. If it turns out to be a gleason score 7 cancer, I have been exploring HIFU and Tulsa-Pro. I have a Florida home about an hour from the Scionti and watched his videos. It is nice to see that Mayo appears to be offering TULSA-Pro also.

Was your PSA 2.6 after the cancer returned following your HIFU in 2018? Or, was that your initial PSA that motivated further exploration of the potential for prostate cancer.

I live in Indiana for a good part of the year and had a pretty serious back issue that took me to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN over 30 years ago. After two surgeries performed locally failed, they did a great job. So, I may also explore Mayo in Jacksonville for the TULSA-Pro option. I noticed Dr. Scionti has performed numerous procedures and watched his videos. Do you have any thoughts/updates...thank you!

Hello Russm, I have had 2 Prostate HIFUs. The first by an in-experienced urologist in Dec 2018. Pre-op PSA was 6.9 and 6 months post-op it dropped to 1.2 Then my 2nd HIFU with Scionti was in Dec 2020, pre-op PSA 2.6 (biopsy showed relapse of Gleason 7 - 3+4) and 6 month post-op 1.0 Keep in mind the first HIFU was done on about 2/3 of the right side of my prostate (focal). My second HIFU involved the entire right side. So I still have my entire left side intact. My last PSA in July this year was 1.0 and I am due next month for my 2 year PSA. Hopefully it will remain around 1.0 I have no issues with ED or incontinence. I think the key to a successful HIFU is finding an experienced doctor. Either Mayo or Dr Scionti should be a good choice. Why not just get it all out and get on Zolodex that stops the testosterones that is the fertilizer for prostate cancer

Won't you eventually become "castrate resistant" taking Zolodex?
