Ileostomy or stoma scope: What can I expect?

Hi there, sorry to be late replying, and you may have already had your procedure. If so, I hope it went well.

I have had one ileoscopy. The "clean out" procedure that you get from Mayo should be tailored to the fact that you don't have a colon. If it looks like a regular colon cleansing with laxatives, contact your provider and ask if that is correct for you. If I recall correctly (and the last one I had was 2015) I had to fast and be on clear liquids, but I didn't have to have laxatives.

I was anesthetized for the procedure, using the same protocol as for a colonoscopy, so you will need a driver.

Bring an appliance change to the procedure, you are going to want a fresh bag and maybe wafer as well. The last one I had they only took off the bag and not the wafer, but I needed to change the wafer when I got home (this was not done at Mayo, and they kind of left me a mess).

Thanks for the info, they decided to check a few other things before doing the stoma scope. (Dec. 13)
I have a small hernia in the area of the stoma I am almost sure that is causing some of my issues.
So am sure I will at some time need the procedure.
Thanks again
