My dad was just diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma of the esophagus at 54. It has been hard to even begin to face what will await us, we have seen a few but found an oncologist we trust … the treatment plan laid out is radiation chemo surgery. PET scan is this week to establish staging. I’m an oncology nurse just looking for guidance, advice , very scared for what’s coming 😞

Welcome, @nattlefever. This must be so hard to hear that your young father has adenocarcinoma of the esophagus. As an oncology nurse, you know this is not an easy journey. @skwwatkins was in a very similar state as you and your father find yourselves today. I'm glad that you have sought multiple opinions and have found an oncologist you trust. Will he be having surgery first or will the order of treatment be determined after staging?
