I have the same thing going on. It started a month after the original covid onset. I had started to feel better after 10 days but never really good and then went backwards with this throat mucous and inability to clear it. To complicate the whole situation I was diagnosed with heart failure at the same time. Covid caused? Cardiologist is uncertain because I had an existing cardiomyopathy and I wasn’t hospitalized for covid so the direct correlation isnt documented. Anyway the throat glob is accompanied by wheezing. This has been going on for two months already and chest x-ray is clear, heart echo shows no fluid, so it’s not caused by heart failure and fluid backup. I’m wondering if you experienced wheezing too? This is so frustrating. I don’t think my PCP would prescribe the rinse you’re talking about and who I would see for it. I’m thinking about ENT. Anyway, back to the main question, did you have wheezing too?

This medicine is a very old tried and true for Oral problems. My grown son had the same thing going on( Covid effects as well )and I prescribed this for him and he felt relief within 24 hours. I am not your doctor and I can not speak for you but it is my thinking with my own experience that this latest variant of the Covid virus causes inflammation of the esophagus and throat and higher upper respiratory area. .5ml =5mg is the lowest dose and it worked for us. I am not sure what you mean by wheezing as that can be different for different people. I never felt like I could not take in air. My nose was rarely clogged badly, It was more the back of the throat and higher up respiratory. I did not feel like I had rales while breathing. I am not sure who can prescribe it to you but if you need help and you finally find someone who is willing you can reach out to me on this site and I will try to help them. Its really not that complicated. But they do need to know you and your particular situation. Dexamethasone Oral rinse. .5mg/5 ml. No dye, no sugar.

No wheezing. Just coughing up gunk.

To update this I was prescribed beta blockers in higher dosages as this throat and wheezing problem occurred post covid because of the heart failure diagnosis. Then I was transferred to a heart failure clinic and a change in beta blocker from metoprolol (serious nighttime respiratory distress) to carvedilol that caused serious shortness of breath during exercise. Chest x-Ray, spirometry and Echo during this time frame showed clear lungs and heart - no fluid. Then a right side cardiac cath was normal heart but mild elevated pressure in lungs. So the breathing difficulty has been determined to be asthma. Whether it’s been present long term but mild and undiagnosed or covid induced is yet to be determined or may never be. However, the beta blockers were stopped immediately because they exacerbated the asthma. Next stop pulmonary clinic while still under heart failure clinic watch. Good news is I am not in heart failure. I am now starting the fourth month of post covid respiratory problems.
