Prostate cancer and Cystitis Cystica and Glandularis

Posted by davehookway @davehookway, Oct 12, 2022

I've had Cystitis Cystica et Glandularis diagnosed 25 years ago. Had 2 TURPS and latest one last year found PC in the chips removed. Radiation oncologist doesn't advise radiotherapy and surgeon unsure if prostatectomy is an option - due to difficulty in separating prostate from bladder tissue - and possibility of having to relocate kidney ureters. Bottom line - neither has dealt with patients with these concurrent bladder conditions before AND PC. New Zealand is a small country and experience in these matters lacking. Wondering if anyone else has experience and advice for me.?

Hi @davehookway, having both prostate cancer and bladder complications that limit your treatment options must be tough.

@ch665296f and @predictable had this discussion a while back that may have some relevance for you.

Dave, are you getting treatment in New Zealand's top cancer center? Often challenging cases like yours are discussed at something called "tumor boards" where top cancer specialists gather to discuss together. Might this be something you could request?

My oncologist team has a tumor board meeting which is leading me to other treatment options. GI guy to try a biopsy of a specific presacral tumor which hopefully will result in a different immunotherapy treatment.
