In case some of you don't know what LDN is. It stands fro Low Dose Naltrexone. Naltrexone is FDA approved and has been used for a long time to help people who are trying to get off something they are addicted to. Doctors, however, have discovered that Naltrexone in low dosages can be helpful in helping relieve many symptoms in many illnesses. It is not FDA approved for these uses. However, there is a not-for-profit organization in the UK called the LDN Research Trust that is doing research and has a website that may be helpful if you want to learn about it. It is prescribed for me by a pain management doctor. My other doctors know nothing about it and my rheumatologist refused to prescribe it. I think it is helpful. Pharmaceutical companies are not interested in it because it is not expensive enough for them to feel that it is worthwhile to do large studies and try to get it approved by the FDA. So be it.
