Maybe she us afraid you will have an accident. Do you perceive that your driving is not as good as it was? I have an elderly friend who gets taxis and I went with her one day - it was great you get to chat to the driver and I thought it a good idea.

It is very hard to give up the idea of driving. My neighbour had a car and had an arrangement with a friend to be her chauffeur in return for the friend to have use of the car…she paid the insurance and repairs but the friend paid the gas….it was probably more expensive than taxis but definitely more pleasant and more personal. Sometimes there are community services available (which I use and the kindness of friends.) and the$ you pay go back into the service to help others
