Because there is a tendency for this to be antibiotic resistant, I would say and infectious disease specialist, if you have access to one, would be the best place to begin. If you have a pulmonologist, getting him started on treatment could be as simple as contacting them, either to be seen or for a referral to ID.

While klebsiella isn't usually a risk to others, you have a compromised ability to avoid infection. You and your husband should definitely talk with your docs about protecting you from the bug.

Who identified the Klebsiella, and what did they advise as far as treatment? Do you know if it was tested to see what drug it would respond to?

I knew you would know something! An ENT identified it through bloodwork and yes they sent a resistance panel with the results. We received the bloodwork results yesterday via email. So far, we have not been able to reach the ENT because she is in surgery today. I will try and put my husband in touch with the ID doc I use for my MAC. Thanks!
