If there is advanced arthritis in the toe and one is trying to avoid surgery using orthotics and life style changes, but the whole foot swells during rest, is there an alternative way to manage the arthritic toe? Also will the vascular part of this whole package be alleviated through surgery?
I am being seen at the Rochester clinic for my big toe arthritis. I've followed their recommendation to use a rigid orthotic without success. They say the next step is surgery. Are there any other alternatives?
I had bunion surgery several years ago and am now starting to have problems -- joint pain in the big toe and swelling. Is one more likely to have arthritis after you have had bunion surgery?
I posted a question about toe surgery in 2017. I had the surgery in Rochester in 2020. They placed a metal plate holding the toe in a rocker position. I have had great results!!!! The pain and swelling are gone, and I am fully active again. Way better than I could have imagined! Plus they backed my body up with appropriate cardiac medications to prevent embolism, secondary to a pre-existing condition. While the immediate recovery from the surgery was challenging, the results have been totally worth it.
I would like to know if there are any plans to try stem c lol therapy.
Can you please do a segment on stiff person syndrome. Thank you <br>
