bad hip, bad nights
I need a hip revision on my 29 year old HR. I do pretty good on Norco during the day. but at night it is horrible. I have moved from the bed to a recliner and try not to roll over. I am consider CBD oil for my back but not internal usage because of my kidney transplant. Any help of any kind will be appreciated. I will see the surgeon in Oct. I can hardly wait!

@pinkpam - I remember those last weeks before my hip revisions - and both of mine needed replacement. I was not a kidney patient, so NSAID's were permitted and took the edge off. When my Mom had intractable pain from her arthritis after strokes, she was prescribed lidocaine patches which we used selectively.
Is use of a pain patch an option for you after your transplant?
Sue
I do not know - I will check into that - thank you
Hi there PinkPam (great user name!),
Please try to get away from the Norco. What dose are you taking, 5mg or 10 mg, and how many pills a day? I got addicted to Norco after having surgery on my ring finger. Withdrawal was worse than the break. And in the end, these pills do nothing to treat the real problem.
Sue is right, check out a lower dose pain patch that will deliver medication constantly. But again, not for long.
On October 1st ask your Dr. about Celebrex. It's a prescription NSAID, well tolerated, but can't be taken as long as Aleve or ibuprofen. OTC NSAIDs.
Also check with your Dr. if you can sleep on the side of your god hip, with a sturdy pillow between your knees. I did this because I couldn't sleep on my back.
Keep us posted PinkPam. You are going to be fine! Thanks for reaching out, very courageous! Keep doing the PT exercises, don't stop that. Don't push a particular exercise if there is sharp pain. Discomfort is to be expected. That's how you know you're gaining.
