Easy to inflame, but, how to calm it down

Posted by marvininhouston @marvininhouston, Sep 6, 2022

I have spinal stenosis, narrowing of the nerve channel on my bottom two lumbar discs causing numbness and tingling in my feet. While it’s easy to inflame the neuropathy by walking too much (>3000 steps per day), walking barefoot, sitting on a hard chair for an hour, etc., which will cause my feet to feel swollen (when they aren’t) and/or gives me pins and needles. Once it’s inflamed from overexerting myself from only one day of doing too much, how do I calm it down to get back where I was, besides spending two weeks in bed doing nothing? It seems easy to have the neuropathy climb up your foot, but, impossible to have it retreat. Any thoughts are appreciated…

Did you ever consider surgery? I had spinal stenosis in my neck and after surgery the numbness going down my arm ended.

I am having a new MRI next week followed by an appointment with a neurosurgeon the next week. I hope to find that the neuropathy in my feet is caused by severe stenosis in L4 andL5. Perhaps the solution will end the heat and numbness similar to Marvin's. Glad to hear that julkun had a good surgical result.

I also have stenosis in L4 and L5. When the surgeon gave me an injection there for pain, he yelled at me when I asked if it would ease my neuropathy pain in my foot. And it didn't, but I'll never go back to him again!
