I’m A Type two Diabetic Who is experiencing Dawn Phenomenon

I’m type 2 and not on meds but diet- My Last AIC was 4 months ago it was .6 No Meds- A day ago woke up felt like drunk Not spinning but weird nausea When I took My glucose Monitor was 149- I’m never High only in 90’s- Both sides family had Both type diabetes I’m 65 last of my family-Every yr eye tests blindness happen to mom & Sister & Mothers Mother- I seen diabetes both types and Yet Until this happened for two days ago I had no other symptoms Why Am I experiencing Dawn Phenomenon? I read there’s nothing can help you w this? Except test before bed and upon awaking has anyone experienced this?

I have been diabetic since I was 18. I am 71 currently. At one point I was on an insulin pump. I decided that I was dying with all the insulin I was taking. I was prescribed Trulicity and ate less than 40 carbs per day and my A12 dropped from 11.3 to 6.5. I took that med for 7 years. Last winter I became very sick and after suffering for months I figured out that it was the Trulicity. I have tried two other meds in that family and they also made me sick. She tried me on an old medication and I gained 10 in a week. I am now on a low dose of Januvia and my fasting was 260 this morning. She asked me if I want to go to Endocrinology. I am thinking at this point I need to. Anyone have any suggestions?

AN ENDOCRINOLOGIST WHO IS EXPERIENCED IN TREATING DIABETES AND SEES A SIGNIFICANT # OF DIABETIC PATIENTS IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR A DIABETIC PATIENT TO HAVE IN TREATMENT AND DIAGNOSIS. THERE ARE SO MANY VARIABLE FACTORS AT PLAY IN A DIABETIC PATIENT THAT EXPERIENCE WITH A LARGE # OF PATIENTS IS IMPORTANT. IF THEY HAVE "SEEN EVERYTHING" THEY WILL NOT BE SURPRISED AND PRESENT A HIGHER DEGREE OF PROBABLE SUCCESS IN DEALING WITH YOUR PARTICULAR CASE.

Absolutely - Endo is where you need to be now.
Just a question about the UTI's - have they done a urine culture & checked your kidneys? My husband had a repeat UTI last winter, and it was from (diabetic) urine being retained in his kidneys. Also as an older man, his prostate was swollen. Once they got the right antibiotic & gor the urine moving he is doing better. The nephrologist & urologist are watching him like a hawk now.

Thank you. I have been cultured at least 6 times. Always comes back with a preferred antibiotic, but they have not worked. I need to own stock in the Azo company. Lol

@ltssjs I DO TREASURE MY EYESIGHT! I HAD DIABETIC RETINOPATHY. THAT IS ONE OF THE REASONS I PURSUED A PANCREAS TRANSPLANT (TO SAVE MY EYESIGHT AND KIDNEYS). I WAS BLESSED TO HAVE A PANCREAS TRANSPLANT. ATER THAT THE DIABETIC RETINOPATHY REVERSED! NOW I JUST HAVE OLD NEARSIGHTED VISION. I’VE HAD CATARACT SURGERIES, BIFOCALS AND I NEED READING GLASSES.
