Another suggestion: get one of those incentive spirometers that hospitals give the patients. I have one and am using it. It seems to increase my lung capacity.

I have a spirometer that I use regularly. I also have another exerciser that I use for my lungs that brings up phlegm. But the phlegm issue is more of a sinus issue.
