Lymphocytic Colitis and Diabetes: What foods can I eat?
I have been diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis and I'm trying to pared down the list of foods I can eat that will minimize the adverse reaction in my colin. The medicine I'm on now (a steroid called Entocort) has severely affected my blood sugars (I am Type II diabetic). I wonder if anyone else has the combination of lymphocytic colitis and diabetes and how they are handling it?

Being diagnosed with a new condition while managing an existing condition can be overwhelming. Do you have access to a diabetes educator or dietitian to help you map out a good plan right for you?
Hello and thank you for your quick response. Yes, I am a knitter, but still consider myself a novice. I did try to connect with the people you suggested, but it seems like some posts are not recent. I did see a nutritionist and have a second upcoming appointment. I am new to all of this, and need more patience and I thought perhaps knowing other people going through the same lifestyle would help. Some of the suggested posts are a little removed from what I am experiencing. Maybe I am not checking into this correctly. BUT, I do thank you so much for the effort.

I have dealt with microscopic colitis on and off for years and then also diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Over the years I have taken prednisone for asthma and this also helped my colitis. However, it caused weight gain, worsening diabetes control.
I succeeded in losing 45 lbs over one year by eating a low carb diet. It was perfect for me, kept me full. Mostly proteins and some healthy fats. My blood sugar improved so much that I didn’t have to take my oral medication for glucose control.
I don’t tolerate fiber and stay away from any fiber supplements.
Same with me. Taking e cot for 5 days and no effect on blood sugar.
I am happy for you to lose the weight. That is very difficult. I also have microscopic colitis, recently learning how to eat correctly. Would you offer tips on eating for colitis? Thank you

In my case, I have to avoid too much fiber, feel worse with it.
Eggs are good, always made me feel well.
Lactaid cottage cheese, Greek youghurt, berries.
Im avoiding beef, harder for me to digest. I eat some pork, without fat, and chicken. I also found that turkey patties keep me full- high protein.
Im careful with vegetables- I tolerate cooked spinach, zucchini and cauliflower. They are also low carbohydrate.
Healthy fat in avocados- I usually have half a small one daily.
Avoid large meals- better to have smaller more frequent meals.
I avoid bread, even though I love bread! I may have a small slice of toast.
Sugarfree Jello is great for a snack or dessert.
Im sorry my list is not very organized!
Don’t forget a daily probiotic.
Thanks for your response, I appreciate your ideas. Where can I find the info about how to eat proteins and healthy fats. Is there an easy meal planto follow? Did you eat 3 meals a day or small snacks throughout the day? Trying to curb the high and low alarms on my sensor. Thanks for your input.

Try to find a nutritionist to guide you to a diet that suits you and what you like to eat.
I prefer 3 meals a day, not large, but focused on protein- that keeps me full.
Met with nutritionist just once. Will continue on my journey with her. Thanks for your suggestions, ideas and motivation.
