A Re Call yes I said a RE CALL of my KNEE Replacement

I’ve had my left knee replaced 15 months ago and it has been hell pain constantly going all the way down to my heel . Now there’s a recall they said that I have to have the knee completely taken out which is a supposedly a very complicated surgery which is about a five hour one I am not happy. I am also one of those patients that when you woke up you won’t up with foot neuropathy after surgery I don’t have very good luck I guess pain is my life right now

@grandmazoo711 Wow, that pain sounds awful. I am responding because I am a "veteran" of recalled joint implants - not 1 but 2 hips.
I had 2 new hips put in in 2005, when I was in my early 50's. From 2006 to 2009, I kept telling the surgeon they "didn't feel right" and he kept dismissing me. When I went for my annual check in November, 2010, instead of going to x-ray for images, I was ushered into his office. There, without saying anything, he handed me a letter from the manufacturer saying there "might be an issue." He said it was unlikely, but sent me to a special lab for a blood test. In December he called and said "You have metal in your blood from your hips. They have to come out." (Can I say he wasn't the most empathetic doc I ever met?) I waited until April with his blessings because I didn't want to be using crutches on ice & snow - bad choice on my part. Recovery was tougher because of the damage the recalled hips had caused to the tissue.

But, the new hips are in, the maker of the recalled ones covered all medical & therapy costs plus mileage & parking, and these are wonderful. After 11 years they were x-rayed in May & the doc says everything looks perfect - good for another 10 years or 10,000 miles.

I am not by nature a person who turns to an attorney, but in this case we did to make sure all our costs were covered. So while I am sure the last thing you want is more surgery, if it gets rid of the pain, it will be worth it. Just be sure to put yourself in the hands of a surgeon who does a lot of "revision surgery" because they will know the best approach.
