@sammy15, I see that Opdivo (nivolumab) plus Yervoy (ipilimumab) has been recently approved for treatment of metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. This treatment protocol has been found effective in other tumor types like melanoma and lung cancer. But I don't think it is yet approved for squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.

Was this a treatment option offered to you? Have you had treatment with either of the immunotherapies as a mono-therapy, i.e. Opdivo alone?

I've had Opdivo alone and it has been nothing but a miraculous recovery. September 2021 my oncologist told me I should consider hospice as a next step. I asked if there was anything else and Opdivo was a last ditch effort with <20% success estimated. I had used Keytruda for about a year and it's positive effects faded over time.
No side effects from the Opdivo. One treatment/month-takes about an hour although first doses took longer because they gave me allergy meds too. I have squamous cell throat cancer since April 2019 and won't get into my beleagured medical history-let's just say it's been rough because I also have multiple myeloma. They changed my MM treatment at the same time. They both appear to be under control now, however, it could change with my next Petscan or blood test. I'm just glad to have had Mayo and opdivo over the past year so I can enjoy life again.
