I am better now. After 17 months of terrible pain I found an awesome orthopedic clinic that diagnosed my problem. They identified the reason for my awful pain on an ultrasound in just a couple of minutes. I had a rare extra bone on the side of my knee called a fabella bone. A very skilled surgeon removed this bone and I was better right away.

I saw many specialists who had no idea what was wrong but I just kept fighting for myself.
I hope everyone understands that you don't have to stay with the same doctor if you have a serious problem that isn't being resolved.

Thanks heyjoe for your well wishes.

You're welcome Katrina. I looked up this bone you referenced and it occurs in 40% of people. Doctors often misdiagnose it as an osteophyte in the knee. Anyway, I'm glad you found and solved the problem!
