I do take R- Alpha lipoic acid only, not ALA, together with Acetyl-L-Carnitine for a couple of years now.
You can google about benefits of taking them together.
Or you can always try to use them separately, or just R- ALA.
I find that only R-ALA makes me hungry, Acetyl-L-Carnitine takes the hunger out. Can manage my 16-18 hours fasting on most days.
I take Acetyl-L-Carnitine 500 mg in the morning and evening along with other supplements including na-R-ALA (600 mg in the morning and evening). Both are the in the Protocol 525 along with other supplements shown to help neuropathy.
