I guess that we should look also for proteins specifically because we have bones issues. Fresh almonds have lots of them and fiber and healthy fat but 1 ounce (28 grams) of fresh almonds delivers only 7% of our daily Calcium needs. Check if your almond milk meet the NOVA criteria for ultra processed food as apparently 95% do. Calcium might be added.
It is so difficult to find out what is really good for us. We must compromise I suppose. Good luck!
@pami I believe that almond milk does not have calcium in it naturally, it is actually an added supplement. I just checked one of the popular almond milks and a prominent ingredient is calcium carbonate.
I have osteoporosis so protein is also extremely important and almond milk has very little protein. I have found Fairlife skim milk which is low calorie, free of lactose, and since it's ultra-filtered the calcium and protein are concentrated to have more than typical skim milk. Unfortunately it does sell out in stores and then there tends to be a lag of a few weeks during which it's not available but there are a couple of other manufacturers that make similar skim milks with not quite as much of those ingredients that are essential to me.
When I wrote that post originally I mentioned that I was lactose intolerant. That was something that came on very suddenly. After a few months of extreme intolerance it went away though and I can now have lactose! Fairlife, as I said, does not have lactose but that is now not as important to me.
