My father is 68 and just last month had stomach pains we rushed him to hospital and they found blood clots in his lungs then saw the tumor at the bottom of his esophagus, they did the endo and said it was not a stage 4 they didn’t see any of the cancer through the linings , we then had the oncologist last week and she said it was stage 4 a and we are now waiting for pet scan on Friday , my father is NOT eating he says he is not hungry has lost so much weight , he’s not walking like they said he should , his stomach is just full he says . We can’t
Believe this is happening so fast but other then the acid reflux and weight loss he doesn’t have any other Signs yet but he’s not well . Please anyone can share their experience we are so scared to know what this pet scan will
Show this happened so fast

Hi @dnrese99, you've come to right place to get support and tips from other patients and caregivers who have been there. This is happening so fast for you and your family. I bet you have plenty of questions. Ask away.

Let me introduce you to a few other members, like @puprluvr @patricia1952 @pellaw @socalkelly @advocatepaul @survivorsuz @linda2007, who either had esophageal cancer or are supporting a loved one with cancer.

To help you get to know the other members and ask them questions, I moved your message to this discussion.

@dnrese99, I know you're frightened about what the PET scan will tell you. But of course you need to know what is going on so your dad can get the right treatments. Nutrition as you can see from the previous posts is often a concern with esophageal cancer. As others have mentioned, you may wish to discuss the feeding tube option. Has the care team talked about a feeding tube with your dad?
