Like Colleen said, "Mask, mask & mask." In the airport, common areas of the hotel, at the wedding...if people look at you strangely, just ignore them.
Our state just published their findings about masking in schools - where everyone masked, and those eligible got vaccinated, there was little classroom transmission. As soon as the mask mandate ended, Covid infections ran rampant - some schools had to close because so many teachers and staff were absent, and no subs were available.
We got lazy this summer and attended my husband's very small class reunion unmasked. Within 12 days, at least 6 of the 40 people there tested positive - fortunately, we were not among them. We have had numerous friends who were like us, ultra cautious for 2 years, and got sick of it - way too many have come home from events with Covid - one couple have been sick since the 4th of July & are just beginning to "feel human again." We took this very much to heart. This week when we attended a large family funeral for 2 days, we were among only a handful who were masked, but so far so good. Tonight we attended a youth circus performance with our grandson, where they asked people to mask. About 1/2 the audience, the entire staff, and even some of the cast were masked. Our personal plan is to be masked at indoor functions with larger groups for the foreseeable future - our age and health it only makes sense.

I wear a KN95 or N95 covered with a double layer cloth mask whenever I'm shopping or otherwise around peolpe indoors.
I'm certainly going to mask up for travel, I'm mostly concerned about the event.
I wish it was outdoors.
I 'm going to ask about Evushield, although I probably won't qualify. I was hoping that tbe newer variant-targeting vaccines would be available in time, but I guess not.
