How does a person living on Social security afford Mayo. I live in FL but they want me to go to Rochester, MN because of multiple rare disorders.

Hi @schirmeyerk. I understand your concern about affordability. Are you accepted at Mayo Clinic in MN already?

Mayo offers charitable housing. Learn more here:

I live in NY and went to Mayo Florida. I'm on Medicare - SS disability and my insurance cocered Mayo. Have you spoke to your insurance company yet about out of network coverage?

Mayo has support programs for people who need financial help. Since they have that as part of their mission, give it a shot to apply. I assume Mayo there in Jacksonville doesn’t think they can handle your issues?

In any case, help is available. Ask for their financial support programs and the residential programs they can recommend—there are places you can stay if you have to go. I went to Mayo in Arizona and they worked with me. I had to stay there for months.

Good luck and blessings for you and yours.
