Austin, it never hurts to call and ask if you can get in sooner, if you are seeing your regular doctor this might be an option. I am hoping to hear good news after your appointment.
Hello, I have a long-term fused hip due to congenital hip displasia and was evaluated at the Mayo Clinic some years ago for the possibility of a hip replacement and to get more info about the associated complexity and outcomes. I am familiar with the Mayo’s research on conversion of hip arthrodesis to hip replacement and orthopedic expertise. I joined Mayo Clinic Connect to see if there were people on here discussing the same issue, but I didn’t see a group for that as I think my case is kind of rare. There don’t seem to be many patients with the issue of hip fusion since nowadays I don’t think that is done very often any more. I saw the male breast cancer post by chance, and I couldn’t help but respond.

Yes! While I was in chemo for breast cancer there was a young guy (26) who was also receiving treatment. A friend's brother also had breast cancer. I would get it checked out.
No, I have had fellow Brothers & Siters in my profession that have had it. I had had Hodgkins Lyphoma at 25 years old & no chemo or radiation with only 2% of survival rate given with surgery was the only option. I held onto that 2% & on the operatiing table for 8 1/2 hours they got 52 Duck Egg size Lyphm Nodes out of me & got it all. My spleen was 6x's enlarged they took that out also. Had check up for 5 years & clean bill of health. Was ill for 6 months & had every kind of test done. 1st person in the country to have a Upper & Lower G.I. & Cat Scan done. OMG the Hose they used back then was like Garden Hose for the Upper & Lower. I didn't care what ever had to be done. I have had a total of 39 Cat scans in my life & I think I glow in the dark. You have to have a positive agenda with any medical issues that come up in life. Humor has always been my life line to living & faith. I went right back to work 6 months later. They cut me open for that surgery from my chest to my runway. I had a 6 pack. It did not upset me one bit I lost my 6 pack. People have to understand & accept, if you live through cancer & what has to be done, ya get it done. I had 3 of the top speicalist in the country in Washington D.C.. I had been living in the south get'n my three degree's at univeristy. If I had not accpeted a new position in D.C. I would not be alive today. People have to realize to get not just one opinion to get 2 or 3 before one has surgery. Collective Minds work forward. My Mom was the 1st Navy P.A. in WWll & served 6 years until the war ended. In her mid 40ties she got Breast Cancer in one Breast. She had it removed & next day was back home fixing a meal for everyone. She never had chemo or radiation. Smart she was she lived to be 93 years young. Chemo & Radiation is a big business & money maker in this country. Just talked to a dear friend ont he phone who was diagnosed with Colon Cancer last Fall. Did all the Chemo Treatments & was clean bill of health. He did not sound well on the phone. Turned out he told me he had just gotten home from Chemo Treatment. Those take people a good 3 days to get over or more for others. Most folks I know who have been through or have chemo done use Cannabis to get through. It is leagl in my state & should be in all 50 states. 24/7.

Skygazer, I think you could add a lot of value to the discussions in these groups:
- Bones, Joints & Muscles https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/arthritis-and-joint-conditions-268850/
- Joint Replacements https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/joint-replacements/
Hope to see you there.
Thanks
