About 3 weeks ago I reached up, and the wrong move cause excuriating pain in my right leg and foot. I have little improvement since. Several years back I had an annular tear at L5-S1. Last month I was consistently pulling my back out. My primary doctor thinks I have a pinched nerve, sciatica, with neuropathy. My foot is numb but hurts even at rest. Anyone experienced this?

Hello @jamesajohn62 and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Sorry to hear of your complications/additions of health concerns.

I found an existing discussion where members are sharing about neuropathy and sciatica that I thought may be helpful for you to join so you will notice I have moved your post here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/peripheral-neruopathy-injections-not-working-tramadol-to-control-pa/

Members such as @pjbaratta @jenatsky @yeoj and @dkappel have shared their experiences in this discussion and am hoping they can come back and support you.

What have you tried to date that hasn't work, as a process of elimination?

I have constant severe burning in My right foot , mostly in the toes. My legs feel heavy and I have some discomfort in the calves and some in the hamstrings. My lower back has been a problem for awhile. I had two surgeries on the toes of the right foot. Two areas in 2016 and two areas in 2018. Not a good outcome for either surgeries. my pain is constant about a 4 to 5 during the day and later in the late afternoon and evening to a 6 or 7. So, for the past several years I cut a large 5% lidocaine patch in half and wrap the toes with it. and then put medical tape around it , then put on a sock and then an ice pack to numb the pain several times before getting some sleep. I do have issues with the lower back L4, L5, S1, arthritis and probably sciatica. I've tried RFA and epidurals, oxycontin, tramadol, medicinal marijuana. Nothing really helps. I have read about MILD, minimally invasive lumbar decompression. I have an August 10th appt. with a neuorsurgeon and will bring up the MILD treatment and see what he thinks. I think the lower back and sciatica is contributing about half of the burning in the toes and the weakness in the legs.
