Has anyone had a tight band feeling after total knee replacement?
I am 8 weeks post TKR and have had this very tight band around my knee since week one. My Dr at 6 wks says it is normal and will go away. Has anyone else had this and did it go away and when?

Thanks. But as many others experience this tightness you might imagine that the cause was explored ...
Hi, I am a little over 5 months out of T K R. I still have that tight band feeling around my knee. It is not as often as it was in the beginning. Ice wrap helps it calm down. Hope this helps.
So strange or just stupid that I never tried an ice wrap! I tried a far infrared lamp and tens device but not clear there was any benefit after a number of sessions.
I am 11 months out and still in pain unfortunately, especially the stairs in our home. I am currently getting myofascial release therapy and shock wave therapy for the pain. Have had two treatments and see some relief but not enough to quit. Will need about 4 more sessions to see if this works. Otherwise there is nerve ablation but I have only a 50:50 chance of it working. Also wear rock tape around knee cap which helps. Surgeon certainly never said anything about chronic pain for months on end. They think if joint looks good you are ok.
Where do they work your legs in that therapy? I tries all sorts of massages on all parts of my legs but never found any release.
I go to a certified massage therapist for the MFR althoughyou might find a PT that does this. He deeply massages around my knee and up my thigh. It feels much better after. You could also go to you tube where many PTs have videos. Hope you find some relief!
Many thanks. I looked at such videos tried the massages but to no effect alas. Maybe need to do more - does your therapist massage hamstring (rear) as well as quads?
Recommend going to a certified Therapist for the MFR as they have by trained. He hasn’t worked my hamstrings as they aren’t a problem now. Also doing shock Therapy on surgical knee and opposite foot for plantar fasciitis in opposite foot. So one day at a time.
Many thanks for the details!
Hi sorry to hear your still having issues…. I am almost year out and I am going for revision on the 28…..I had difficulty getting flexion and keeping it ….. I had mua at 6 weeks with no results …. My dr blamed me not working hard enough blamed arthritis even my migraines which have been under control…..needless to say I got second opinion hence revision being done my knee slightly to big reason I could not get flexion….I do mfr since 3 months out of tkr it has helped so much for tightness and enabled to straighten my leg almost fully ….. I am so disappointed in my original tkr dr…..with that said never hurts to seek second opinion ….I hope you start feeling relief
