I had similar symptoms for a long time & was finally diagnosed with gastroparesis by a gastric emptying test that took me 4 hours to complete & diagnosed with lactose intolerance…. Had to completely change my diet & I walk a lot after eating to help with emptying my stomach & digestive tract….enzymes and probiotics have helped also!
If you weigh 240 pounds, it sounds like you're overweight. That can certainly cause acid reflux, (especially if you have a hiatal hernia) which will give you the feeling you describe "everything stops right at my rib cage". Are you taking any acid reflux medication? The most important thing is to lose weight, and you might need to take some medication (such as pepcid) until you lose the weight. (Or, you can take Tums or the like.) Look up on the internet a low acid diet (such as no coffee and chocolate). I find eating peanuts is hard to digest and gives me a bloated feeling, so you might consider trying to eat a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, and more easily digestible foods (eggs, oatmeal, apples, chicken...). You can keep a record of what you eat and what foods make you feel worse.
